About Artesania Rinconada

Artesania Rinconada Classic collection figurine designs was started by twin brothers Jesus and Javier Carbajales in 1972 in Uruguay. 

There designs were influenced by Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali and Joan Miro.They chose nature as their design for their ceramic figurines and sculptures blending a traditional South American style with a surrealist touch. 

With each design and ceramic figurine they carved AR into each one for Artesania Rinconada, which is Spanish for "Corner Art", which was the original place they made these beautiful figurines...in the corner of their living room. They moved into larger working quarters and in recent years Rinconada has evolved into new creative and artistic designs under a new factory director Jorge De Rosa. Jorge De Rosa apprenticed in hand crafted ceramics as a young man and studied ceramics and artistic design under his father, who co-founded Artesania in the early 1970's.

The collaboration under the Carbajales brothers and De Rosa has resulted in superior ceramic figurines making these figurines popular with all collectors.
